Picture Day on Monday March 12

Skating - Please sign and return blue permission forms and return for Monday!

Weather permitting we will skating.
Hello Royal Oak School Parents and Guardians! Your son and/or daughter will be bringing home a letter soon telling you about our Skating Activity that will take place March 14, 15 and 16th. We are looking for several volunteers to help with tying skates, assisting on the ice, walking with classes from the school to the outdoor rink and helping with the skate shack. We are very fortunate to have booked the KidSport skate shack and we will need a few volunteers organizing and managing the skates and helmets. If you are available to help out during this activity please email Keri Blakeney at rosvolunteers@gmail.com for more information.
Thank you for supporting our Physical Education program!!

Needed
We are asking students to bring in cereal boxes. We are starting a building project and will need a cereal box each for each student. Thank you in advance:)

Conferences- Sign up
Thursday March 8 you may register online for your student led conferences on March 22 and 23. These conferences are student centred and student led. Each time slot will be 1/2 hr long, where you will have a chance to interact with your child as they show case their work. Teachers will be available for conversations with students and their parents, however there will be more than 1 family in the room at a time.

We are mixing colours. We are artists!
Students had the opportunity to continue adding detail to our artist panels, working collaboratively with the other grade 1 classes to make a single art display. We discussed what colours would be made by mixing the primary colours.
Ask me about: Why is black a bossy colour?  What happens when you add white to a colour.  What picture did you paint on the canvas?

Math
Next week in Math we will begin exploring subtraction, looking at known strategies (using a 10 frame, number line, counting with blocks etc..) to help us solve equations and problems involving subtraction.  We are going to examine how our knowledge of adding can help us become experts in subtraction.
