We had an amazing trip to the zoo. Ask me about all the animals I saw and the features I noticed in their habitats. We also participated in a program called the "bear necessities." We learned all about the bears that live in Canada and their characteristics. Ask me about the types of bears that live in Alberta. Some of us even got to dress up as a bear.



  • BOKS: The last day of BOKS will be Thursday, June 14th.
  • Learning Commons: June 1 is the last date to sign out book for students . They can keep their books for 2 weeks if they want . All learning commons materials are due back on June 15.
  • Report Cards: If your child is leaving earlier than Report Card Day, please ask send a self-addressed & stamped envelope, minimum size 9 X 12.  The school is unable to send Report Cards home early.

Skating Hello Royal Oak School Parents and Guardians! Your son and/or daughter will be bringing home a letter soon telling you about our Skating Activity that will take place March 14, 15 and 16 th . We are looking for several volunteers to help with tying skates, assisting on the ice, walking with classes from the school to the outdoor rink and helping with the skate shack. We are very fortunate to have booked the KidSport skate shack and we will need a few volunteers organizing and managing the skates and helmets. Needs and Wants In Inquiry, students are discussion the difference between Needs and Wants. Students brainstormed and discussed in small groups their personal needs and wants. Then, we discussed our community needs and wants. Ask your child what they believe is essential in our community and why. Toys, Watches and others distractions We are asking everyone to be thoughtful about the items in students’ backpacks. We all know that toys should not be brought into school, but also items that can become a distraction or reason for disagreements. For example, lately we noticed a few girls sharing bracelets, lip balm, necklaces and others items. First, lost or broken items result in very sad feelings. Second, it can result in discussions about the ownership of such items. Finally, it take away the attention and focus they should be directing to their learning.
