Jump Rope For Heart Fundraiser

Our Heart and Stroke Foundation Jump Rope For Heart Fundraiser is well on its way. Our kick off assembly last week got students excited to participate. Students are encouraged to continue collecting pledges until Wednesday, April 25th when we will have our Jump Rope for Heart Day event. The Jump Event will run from 1:30-2:30 on the 25th, our entire school will converge in the courtyard to skip, be active and have fun. Students are encouraged to bring their own skipping ropes if they have one to participate in this school wide event. Thank you for your continued support!!

Celebration of Learning

As part of our Celebration of Learning, the students have had the opportunity to create a piece of public art that is connected to our work in inquiry with the Artist in Residence Sharon Fortowsky.

As a way to give back to the community, the students have decided to sell a postcard of the their collaborative public art piece. The postcard will be 5 dollars with 4 dollars of the purchase going to KidSport is a not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment so that kids who need support can be involved in sports. Please make sure to bring 5 dollars in cash to our celebration of Learning on April 19th from 6-7 to purchase a postcard.

With the weather warming up, it's going to be slushy outside and puddles will be very tempting for students! We encourage parents to pack an extra pair of pants and socks in your child's backpack in case they get wet at recess.

****Home Reading****
Please send back clear home reading book bags every Tuesday and Thursday to get your new books! The volunteers exchange the books in the morning so it is important that students hand them in first thing when they arrive. Just a reminder that these books should be at a "just right" level for independent reading for your child.

Skating Hello Royal Oak School Parents and Guardians! Your son and/or daughter will be bringing home a letter soon telling you about our Skating Activity that will take place March 14, 15 and 16 th . We are looking for several volunteers to help with tying skates, assisting on the ice, walking with classes from the school to the outdoor rink and helping with the skate shack. We are very fortunate to have booked the KidSport skate shack and we will need a few volunteers organizing and managing the skates and helmets. Friday Sept. 15th - Our week in review!

Happy Friday!! We have had a busy week! Check our mail folders today because we have our home journals to share. Please remember to write your child a little note back in the journal. In Math, we started working on the "Candy Problem". How many different ways can 3 kids share 8 candies? Take a look at how we organized our work on the Smartboard! We also worked on Sorting objects into groups. How many different ways can we sort buttons?? Shape, Size, Colour, Number of holes, etc. Important Reminders! **All blue forms that have gone home this week need to be returned ASAP.  **Conferences are on Thursday evening and Friday morning. Please book online ASAP and see the office if you do not have your My CBE account set up.  **Library books can be returned anytime. This week we will be setting up for the book fair so the students will NOT be taking out new books this week.
