We are inviting all students and staff to participate in Jersey Day on Thursday, April 12th in support of the families and community members affected by the bus crash in Saskatchewan last the weekend. Please wear any team jersey, Royal Oak Blue or Canada Shirt that is your favourite or important to you and demonstrate your support.


 Spring fundraiser
Just a friendly reminder from the ROS Fundraising Society that our Spring fundraiser is happening now!  We are excited to be offering beautiful patio planters, hanging flower baskets, tomato plants and baskets, as well as, strawberry hanging baskets from Central Alberta Greenhouses!
Order forms are due April 18th
Cheques can be made payable to: ROS Fundraising Society
All orders will be made available for pick-up on May 10th!!

With the weather warming up, it's going to be slushy outside and puddles will be very tempting for students! We encourage parents to pack an extra pair of pants and socks in your child's backpack in case they get wet at recess.

****Home Reading****
Please send back clear home reading book bags every Tuesday and Thursday to get your new books! The volunteers exchange the books in the morning so it is important that students hand them in first thing when they arrive. Just a reminder that these books should be at a "just right" level for independent reading for your child.

Friday Apr.13 - Snack Day
Thursday Apr.19 - Grade 1 Celebration of Learning - 6-7pm
Friday Apr. 20 - Non-instructional Day - No class for students

Thursday May 3 - "Hats ON" for Mental Health Day- Where your favourite hat to school.

Skating Hello Royal Oak School Parents and Guardians! Your son and/or daughter will be bringing home a letter soon telling you about our Skating Activity that will take place March 14, 15 and 16 th . We are looking for several volunteers to help with tying skates, assisting on the ice, walking with classes from the school to the outdoor rink and helping with the skate shack. Needs and Wants In Inquiry, students are discussion the difference between Needs and Wants. Students brainstormed and discussed in small groups their personal needs and wants. Then, we discussed our community needs and wants. Ask your child what they believe is essential in our community and why. Toys, Watches and others distractions We are asking everyone to be thoughtful about the items in students’ backpacks. We all know that toys should not be brought into school, but also items that can become a distraction or reason for disagreements. For example, lately we noticed a few girls sharing bracelets, lip balm, necklaces and others items. First, lost or broken items result in very sad feelings. Second, it can result in discussions about the ownership of such items. Finally, it take away the attention and focus they should be directing to their learning.
