Math
Today we looked at the apple box problem. We discussed how many different ways to make apple boxes of ten using some green and some red apples.
How many ways did you come up with?  Were any of your answers the same?  Why?

Inquiry
We are discussing and debating services in our community. What services are essential?  How do you know that one service is more important than another?
Ask me about... What do you think the most important service is in your community and why?  Next we will be discussing sustainability?  What a big word for Grade 1. What makes a community sustainable?

Literacy
Did you switch literacy groups this morning?  If so who was your new teacher?
We have read the story by Ezra Keats, “The Snowy Day”  We discussed Peter’s snowy day and created some snowy day art to represent our understanding of the story. Students have brainstormed ideas about things they like to do on a snowy day.  Next we will become authors and create our own snowy day story adventures.
Ask me about… What is the best thing about a snowy day and why?
