Today we had our Evacuation practice and Lockdown practice. All of the Grade 1s did an amazing job! It was very important that we practice these important safety procedures. Ask your child about it tonight!

We used our imagination and created some interesting art pieces today inspired by the book, "Beautiful Oops" by Barney Saltzberg. We learned that mistakes like spilled paint or torn paper can be turned into something beautiful.









We look forward to seeing you for conferences either Thursday evening or Friday morning. Please remember to return your blue sheets as soon as possible. The Book Fair will also be going on during conferences! Stop in and see what's exciting in the Learning Commons!

Skating Hello Royal Oak School Parents and Guardians! Your son and/or daughter will be bringing home a letter soon telling you about our Skating Activity that will take place March 14, 15 and 16 th . We are looking for several volunteers to help with tying skates, assisting on the ice, walking with classes from the school to the outdoor rink and helping with the skate shack. We are very fortunate to have booked the KidSport skate shack and we will need a few volunteers organizing and managing the skates and helmets. Needs and Wants In Inquiry, students are discussion the difference between Needs and Wants. Students brainstormed and discussed in small groups their personal needs and wants. Then, we discussed our community needs and wants. Ask your child what they believe is essential in our community and why. Toys, Watches and others distractions We are asking everyone to be thoughtful about the items in students’ backpacks. We all know that toys should not be brought into school, but also items that can become a distraction or reason for disagreements. For example, lately we noticed a few girls sharing bracelets, lip balm, necklaces and others items. First, lost or broken items result in very sad feelings. Second, it can result in discussions about the ownership of such items. Finally, it take away the attention and focus they should be directing to their learning.
