Sept. 7th - Volunteer Orientation on Monday!

Dear Parents,

Thank you to those who have expressed that you would like to volunteer! We would like to invite you to a Volunteer Orientation meeting on Monday (Sept. 11th) 6:00-7:00pm here at the school run by our admin team. If you have NOT YET attended one of these meetings, this is a great chance to have all of your questions answered and fill in all of the necessary paperwork that is needed for you to volunteer! We are excited to have you in our classrooms!

Directly after the Volunteer Orientation is the Parent Council/Fundraising meeting at 7:00pm. Please stay to find out more information about our school and how you can be involved!

Skating Hello Royal Oak School Parents and Guardians! Your son and/or daughter will be bringing home a letter soon telling you about our Skating Activity that will take place March 14, 15 and 16 th . We are looking for several volunteers to help with tying skates, assisting on the ice, walking with classes from the school to the outdoor rink and helping with the skate shack. We are very fortunate to have booked the KidSport skate shack and we will need a few volunteers organizing and managing the skates and helmets. Needs and Wants In Inquiry, students are discussion the difference between Needs and Wants. Students brainstormed and discussed in small groups their personal needs and wants. Then, we discussed our community needs and wants. Ask your child what they believe is essential in our community and why. Toys, Watches and others distractions We are asking everyone to be thoughtful about the items in students’ backpacks. We all know that toys should not be brought into school, but also items that can become a distraction or reason for disagreements. For example, lately we noticed a few girls sharing bracelets, lip balm, necklaces and others items. First, lost or broken items result in very sad feelings. Second, it can result in discussions about the ownership of such items. Finally, it take away the attention and focus they should be directing to their learning.
